The Celtic Connections Festival got under way yesterday in Glasgow. Over the next 18 days 1500 artists perform at 300 events in 14 different venues and one of those artists is Shetland band Fiddlers’ Bid. They perform tomorrow evening at 7.30pm in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Main Auditorium and feature a few special guests including Japanese folk/pop band Humbert Humbert and Texan band The Quebe Sisters.

The concert is Fiddlers’ Bid’s second performance of 2011 following the live BBC1 Scotland Hogmanay Show on TV at New Year so a great start to the bands 20th anniversary year. For more details of the Celtic Connections Festival click here. Some tickets are still available for the Saturday concert, click here for details.

Maurice Henderson of Fiddlers’ Bid asked me to take some PR shots ahead of their concert featuring him and some of the band members fathers in full viking regalia, so at the weekend on a bright but cold Sunday morning we ventured down to the Sands of Sound in Lerwick, here are a few of the shots from that morning!
