Montage Monday shall pop up every now and again, so to kick off this recurring theme is a photo I took on holiday earlier this year in Paris. I have seen many triumphal arches in Paris, Barcelona, London, Moscow and St. Petersburg but none of them quite compare to the Arc De Triomphe.

Well, it’s Halloween today so I was trying to find an image to illustrate this post and came across this shot I took at the Girona Cinema Museum in Catalonia. It is a scene from ‘The Bride of Frankenstein’ starring Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester from 1935 and is part of a collection of photographs from films throughout the history of cinema. Girona is a beautiful town and the museum is fantastic and contains not only cinematic equipment but also mirror tricks, illusions and a Camera Obscura.

The museum has it’s own website at www.museudelcinema.org

‘Another World’ is the title of the current exhibition at the Dean Gallery in Edinburgh. It features the work of Surrealist artists including Dalí, Magritte and Miró among many others. The exhibition has taken over practically the whole gallery and also has a room dedicated solely to the British Surrealist art movement. Among my favourite exhibits was the photographic works of Man Ray and Lee Miller, especially Miller’s portraiture of some of the biggest names in the Surrealist art world taken at the peak of the movement.
